What is CUET?
Many students appearing for this exam don’t even know “What is CUET?”.
Common University Entrance Test or commonly known as CUET is a national level entrance examination. Earlier known as Central University Common Entrance Test or CUCET, CUET is a more advanced and sophisticated form of the exam. The exam is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) to admit students in all central universities and some privately owned institutions. Students appearing for CUET can select various colleges of their choice for counseling and get admission in undergraduate programmes. This exam is varied according to the subjects of choice of students, so students of science, commerce and arts stream can take admission in any course of their choice.
Note, Science students having Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics can opt for admission in all the three streams Science, Arts and Commerce. However, commerce and arts students can take admission in any stream except science.
NTA is a government run organization to execute national level entrance examinations in India. It is approved by the Union Council of Ministers and was established in 2017.

NTA CUET 2024 Eligibility Criteria [Educational Qualification & Age limit]
To be eligible to apply for Common Aptitude Test, you need to fulfill the specific criteria set by the exam conducting body.
The CUET eligibility criteria expected for the courses are listed below:
- All Indian citizens are eligible to apply for the exam.
- For UG courses, you must have completed 12th class with minimum 50% marks (for general category) and 45% marks for SC/ ST category.
- PG applicants in general category must have completed graduation degree with 55% aggregate marks. The minimum percentage required for SC and ST categories is 50%.
- PhD applicants who have qualified CSIR UGC NET (JRF), GATE and NBHM must compulsorily register for the exam.
CUET 2024 Application Form
There is a standard registration process for UG, PG and PhD courses.
You can follow the instructions given below while filling the CUET Application Form 2024.
- Visit the official website of CUET UG and CUET PG as required.
- The online window to register for the examination will appear on the screen after clicking on the button “Click Here to Apply” on the official website.
- Once you click on the “New Register” button, commonly asked registration fields like Name, Mobile Number and E-mail ID will appear on the screen.
- On successful registration, you will receive username and password on registered mobile number and e-mail.
- It would be best if you fill all the mandatory fields like qualification details, communication details, guardian details, exam center preferences and category correctly.
- The next step is to upload your photograph, signature and other required documents as per the specifications given in the official notification.
- Select any three universities in which you wish to secure admission and select any three courses in each university.
- Once selected, click on the “Save & Proceed” button and preview the online form.
- Next, click on the “Make Payment” button and pay the application fee as per your category.
NTA Common University Entrance Test [UG] 2024 Application Fee
You can pay the application fee in online or offline mode. The application fee varies for different categories.

CUET 2024 Exam Pattern
UGC confirms that the entrance test is conducted in Computer Based Test (CBT) mode, i.e. online mode. The pattern of the question paper will consist of multiple choice questions.
Also, there is negative marking of 1 mark for each wrongly answered question.

CUET 2024 Syllabus [Languages, Domain-Wise & General]
Knowing the syllabus plays an important role in your preparation. However, there is no defined syllabus for the Common Aptitude Test.

NTA CUET 2024 Admit Card/Hall Ticket
The Common Universities Common Entrance Test Admit Card will be out on the official website before 10-15 from the exam. You can download CUET Admit Card online by using your login credentials.
You must carry the call letter to the exam center without fail. Otherwise, you are not allowed to take the exam.
- Go to the official website.
- Click on the link ‘Download CUET Admit Card’.
- Enter your Registration ID and Date of Birth in the space provided
- click on the login button
- Hall ticket will be displayed on the screen
- Download admit card and take a printout for future use.
NTA CUET 2024 Result
Generally, NTA will declare the result one month after the completion of the exam, which is released in PDF form.
You can download NTA CUET Exam Result 2024 PDF by using your Registration ID and Date of Birth.
Follow the steps given below for scorecard.
- Go to the official website.
- Click on the ‘Login to View Scorecard’ tab.
- Enter your Registration ID and Date of Birth in the space provided
- click on the login button
- Result pdf will appear on the screen
- Download the scorecard and take a printout for future use.
Common University Entrance test Counselling 2024
Each participating college will conduct a separate counseling process after completing the exam. You need to visit the official website of the institute and register to participate in the CUET counseling process.
At the time of registration, you need to select the desired program in the particular university you wish to apply for.
You need to carry the following documents at the time of counseling.
- CUET Admit Card
- class 10 mark sheet
- class 12 mark sheet
- graduation certificate
- Category Certificate (if applicable)
- passport size photo
- Medical Certificate (for PWD Category)
Top Universities for NTA CUET 2024 Admissions
Through NTA Common Aptitude Test you can get admission in any of the 90+ universities. The following are some of the most popular universities to pursue undergraduate and postgraduate programs.
University of Delhi
- It is one of the top universities for various UG courses. More than 5.5 lakh students registered for Delhi University in 2020.
- 20 colleges under Delhi University have been placed in the top 50 NIRF of India.

Jamia Millia Islamia
- This is the first university to target after giving CUET Exam 2024. This university was ranked the best central university in India through NIRF rankings released by the ministry of education in 2022.

Jawaharlal Nehru University
- JNU is the second top university in Delhi and a highly ranked university according to the NIRF ranking system.

Banaras Hindi University
- As per NIRF ranking, BHU ranks third among other universities.

Aligarh Muslim University
- Other religious students may also apply; However, majority of applicants are Muslims.

- This university is in the ranking of 17 overall universities.

JNU Admissions through CUET 2024
This year, admission to various courses in Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) will be conducted through CUET exam.
JNU offers ten undergraduate courses through various Centers for Language, Literature and Cultural Studies. Only those who score above the Aptitude Test cut-off are eligible for JNU admission through CUET.
The University provides reservation as per the rules of the Central Government. Also, it offers scholarships like Merit-cum-Means Scholarship, Ford Foundation Scholarship, etc.
To be eligible for UG programs in JNU, you must have passed Intermediate (10+2) from CBSE or any other recognized board with English as one of the main subjects.
AMU Admissions through CUET 2024
As per the latest announcement, the admission to various courses in Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) is yet to be finalized for this year. Last year the college adopted CUET only for 10 UG programmes.
AMU admission through CUET is done on the basis of marks obtained in Aptitude Test. Only those who qualify the entrance test will be eligible for the counseling process and have to apply for admission on the official website of AMU.
The university offers various courses such as B.A. (Hons.) Arabic, B.A. (Hons.) Communicative English, B.A. (Hons.) Geography, B.A. (Hons.) Philosophy, B.A. (Hons.) Sanskrit, etc.
To apply for these courses, you must have completed 10+2 or equivalent with at least 50% marks in aggregate of English and best three subjects.
BHU Admissions through CUET 2024
From the academic year 2024, the Banaras Hindu University (BHU) will offer admission to various courses through the Common University Common Entrance Test.
As per an official announcement, BHU through CUET will conduct the selection process in terms of admission opportunities and demographics as well.
You will have to appear for an aptitude test administered by NTA as a part of the selection process, in which your aptitude, logical reasoning skills and subject proficiency will be assessed.
To qualify for the next round, you need to score minimum qualifying marks in the entrance exam. If you qualify the exam, then you have to apply for admission by paying the required amount on the official website of BHU.
The college and seat allotment will be based on the merit list prepared using CUET score and eligibility criteria.
